zip lining tips punta cana

Zip line tours are one of the most pouplar types of tours for adventure travelers.  If you are considering going on a zip line tour yourself, you should be sure to understand the steps you need to take to stay safe on a zip line tour.

Know your Physical Limitations
Zip lining is a physical activity that does  require a certain amount of physical activity including climbing stairs and positioning yourself correctly throughout the course.
If you suffer from conditions such as high blood pressure, neck or back pain, dizziness, seizures, anxiety, fear of heights or heart problems, you should consult your doctor first.

Listen to the Instructions
Your guide will give detailed instructions on posture and position as well as braking strategies and ways to avoid injury.  Pay attention and ask questions if unsure.  If you are required to brake during your run, there is not a lot of time to think about it so it is necessary to be prepared on how to do so ahead of time.

Let your guide make all connections and disconnections
This ensures that the equipment is set up properly to minimize the risk of injury to the riders as well as ensuring you are properly connected to the course at all times.

Don’t bring extra gear
Anything that is hanging loose may pose a risk of injury as it could become tangled between the harness and pulleys as you ride.  Additionally unsecured items may be lost as you travel down the line.  If you are using a camera it should be attached to your hand with a strap that allows you to use it with one hand while keeping the other free to steer and brake.

Inspections
A zip line is under high tension every time it is used and thus should be thoroughly inspected on a daily basis for defects.  As well all harness, carabiner lanyard and pulleys should be inspected before use.  On an annual basis a third party should be brought in to fully inspect all aspects of the course and equipment providing certification that can be viewed by users.

Zip line tours are one of the most exhilarating ways to experience gorgeous scenery while satisfying your need for adventure.  Keep these tips in mind so that your zip line tour is a thoroughly enjoyable experience
